 Best Start for Life

In Coventry, our 8 Best Start Family Hubs are designed to bring together services, support, and opportunities for families from pregnancy through to young adulthood, helping ensure that children and families receive the right support at the right time, in the right place. Through a connected and collaborative approach, we work alongside schools to improve outcomes for children and young people while supporting family wellbeing, resilience, attendance, emotional health, and early intervention needs.

The Best Start in Life and the Healthy Babies Programme focus on recognising that positive early experiences, strong family relationships, and timely support during pregnancy and the early years are critical in shaping lifelong outcomes for children.

The Healthy Babies Programme promotes the importance of early attachment, infant health, emotional wellbeing, nutrition, communication development, and parental confidence from conception onwards. Through Family Hubs and connected partnership working, we aim to ensure families can easily access support that enables babies and children to thrive physically, emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

Schools play a crucial role in the connected offer. They are best placed to see the long-term impact that early intervention and family support can have on children’s readiness to learn, attendance, behaviour, emotional regulation, communication skills, and overall well-being. By strengthening links between schools, Family Hubs, health services, and community organisations, we can collectively build a more preventative and joined-up support system for families.
