Homework and Learning Resources
Homework plays an important role in reinforcing classroom learning and supporting pupil progress. Classroom teachers use Microsoft Teams as the central platform for setting homework tasks and sharing learning resources. Pupils and parents can access assignments, lesson materials, and additional support documents directly through Teams, ensuring a consistent and accessible approach to home learning. We encourage all families to regularly check Teams to stay informed and engaged with their child’s learning journey.
Key Stage 3 Pupils
Homework may take different forms throughout the year and may include projects, presentations as well as opportunities for extended writing. It is strongly encouraged that pupils also have a reading book from the library that is regularly updated to support their reading fluency. It is expected that homework is set weekly or fortnightly depending on subject allocation. Some departments such as Maths, use Apps such as Sparx Maths.
Key Stage 4 and 5
Homework for Years 10,11 12 and 13 pupils/students will be set to encourage independent study as well as to recall and apply key knowledge. Homework will be set in accordance with examination board subject specifications. This will vary from subject to subject. Similar to Key Stage 3, class resources/tasks will be set on Microsoft Teams. Some subjects may also provide knowledge work booklets. The minimum expectation is that homework tasks are set fortnightly. GCSE Pod is also an App that many of our pupils use as it supports with the revision of a variety of subjects.
If you would like to discuss homework further please do either contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance or their subject teacher.
