At Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form, we are very much aware that our students are hard-working young adults, balancing their education and exams with work experience, extra-curricular activities and teenage life.
Our Sixth Form understands the immense demands and sometimes overwhelming challenges faced during post 16 education, and we pride ourselves on the level of pastoral support that we are able to give our students. Our main aim is to establish the right balance between independence and dependence for our students. Through careful and considerate tutoring with timely and sensitive intervention, our students build confidence and resilience as they progress through their time at Cardinal Wiseman.
Each student is assigned a highly skilled and experienced tutor who offers bespoke one-to-one support throughout their two year journey. Tutors are a key component in championing and encouraging our students. They will support you in settling into your new environment and in managing your time effectively and closely monitor wellbeing and academic performance. Tutors see their tutees every day, and are the first point of contact between parents and the School.
Tutors deliver our Pastoral and PSHE programme designed to provide a ‘Compass for Life’. Students learn the importance of nurturing their own well-being and are provided with the means to navigate the adventures of sixth form life and beyond. Elements of the Catholic Life syllabus are also explored, including issues around religious understanding, personal relationships and living in the wider world. Students also prepare for life after sixth form through sessions on a range of PSHE themes such as personal finance, healthy lifestyles and democratic processes. In addition, Tutor time is used to manage attendance and punctuality, as both of these are key to success in the sixth form.
In addition to their tutors, students are supported by the Sixth Form team:
