Post 16 education is about helping students develop into young adults ready for the next life stage. For this reason, it is vital that students are given the best sixth form experience possible. We set high standards in terms of student conduct and effort and expect our students to be the best they can be in all areas. Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form is a place where young adults can build on existing skills, learn new ones and feel prepared for whatever life has to offer.
Cardinal Wiseman Sixth Form is a happy and supportive Catholic environment where we consider respect for each other and our world to be highly important in developing as a whole person. Catholic life is lived out in a real, lived and practical way through our worship and prayer life, charity work and the many wider opportunities available as part of Sixth Form life. We are fortunate to be members of a multi-faith and multi-cultural school community in which we can learn from each other’s values and beliefs.
By setting high expectations for all, we ensure that every student receives the individual support they require to develop into, not only scholars, but well-rounded and happy individuals. We encourage students to aim high and our supported and committed staff provide the relevant support to enable students to achieve their goals.
To achieve these goals, we build upon the academic excellence our students bring to Sixth Form by offering a wide range of qualifications and subjects. The route taken beyond Year 13 will fully equip and enable students to utilise the skills and knowledge that will be acquired at Cardinal Wiseman.
Our Sixth Form is not only one that caters for academia. It is a place where students can enhance and develop the personal skills needed throughout life. Through a range of activities in and out of school (including sports, drama, music, art, community and charity work) our students have opportunities to explore their beliefs and values and enrich their passions and interests. These activities will allow them to be part of a team or a community that thinks, dreams and strives to succeed and achieve.
Our central purpose is to give the belief that everyone can pursue their ambitions. For the first time, students get to choose their own curriculum and destination. In the short space of two years, a journey takes place from GCSEs to going to university, the workplace or an apprenticeship.
