Curriculum Information for each Department

Our curriculum forms the foundation which supports all aspects of life at Cardinal Wiseman. In September 2017, we began reviewing and rebuilding all of our curriculum areas to ensure that they were challenging and carefully interwoven to support our philosophy of a knowledge rich curriculum whilst also enabling our students to discern the path God has called them to follow. We aspire to provide our students with the opportunity to experience the very best of knowledge across all disciplines from the writing of Homer in English to the philosophical thoughts of Aquinas in Religious Studies. We recognise that this is a challenging curriculum with Christ at the Center and in order to give our pupils the best possible chance of success we have carefully cross-referenced subjects within each year group. For example, when students are studying Homer in English during year 7 they will also be studying classical Greece in History and classical art in Applied Arts.

We believe that this curriculum will not only be enjoyable for all of our pupils but will help build the knowledge and understanding they will require in later life as part of our “Compass for Life“.
