Remote Working

E-Safety

The online world brings many positives and possibilities, but it’s also full of risks.

When you are at home using the resources that your teachers have provided on Google Classrooms so that you can continue to learn, it is likely that you will also access other online resources.

Remember:

  • Don’t post any personal information online – like your email address or mobile number.
  • Think carefully before posting pictures or videos of yourself.  Once you’ve put a picture of yourself online, it’s not just yours anymore.
  • Keep your privacy settings as high as possible.
  • Never give out your passwords.
  • Don’t befriend people you don’t know.
  • Don’t meet up with people you’ve met online. Speak to your parent or carer about people who suggest you do.
  • Remember that not everyone online is who they say they are.
  • Think carefully about what you say before you post something online.
  • Respect other people’s views, even if you don’t agree with someone else’s views doesn’t mean you need to be rude.
  • If you see something online that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe or worried: leave the website, turn off your computer and tell a trusted adult immediately.

If you require any further guidance, we have bought into a package from National Online Safety which has lots of useful guides for parents on aspects of online safety.

School Resources

In the event of a full closure, we will ensure your child will still have access to the daily learning they would complete during the school day.  We have prepared a range of resources which will be updated on a daily basis via Google Classrooms.  This will be monitored by their usual class teachers and submitted work will be marked and returned.

For accessing any assignments or homework please click on the following icon to go to Google Classrooms:

Guidance to login to Google Classrooms

For other resources used at the school please find in the following:

GCSE Pod
For use primarily in Years 10 and 11. However some subject teachers may use it for Key Stage 3 where applicable.
GCSE Pod is designed to make it easy to learn and revise from wherever you are. Students will need to login using their username and email to access the different subject podcasts.
Class teachers can set assignments on GCSE Pod with knowledge questions at the end to test understanding.

PiXL App
Short retrieval practice questions to help students revise for GCSEs. If students are unable to remember login details please contact the Head of Subject.

Hegarty Maths
All year groups (7-11) use Hegarty Maths.  All students can login (as long as they are on the school roll) using the school name, their own name and date of birth.  They choose their own password which can be reset in school if they forget it.  Hegarty Maths covers the entire mathematics curriculum at both KS3 and KS4 with a series of topic specific videos followed by a quiz of roughly 10 questions.  The videos last approximately 10 minutes each and the quiz roughly 10 minutes.  The students get instant feedback on the questions as they are marked straight away.

 Knowledge Booklets/PiXL Resources

To support your child further in Key Stage 3, Knowledge Booklets have been uploaded to the school website for each subject for this half term. Each Knowledge Booklet mirrors and enhances content which is delivered in lesson. In each Knowledge Booklet there are activities for students to complete to ensure that they are still able to successfully complete the scheme of work.
PiXL resources for Key Stage 4 have been uploaded to help support support students in their preparation for GCSE. Many of the PiXL resources provided have short activities to help students revise and to retain information.

If you need any further support or have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Alton.
