Oxbridge Plus is an aspirations programme for Cardinal Wiseman students. It aims to not only encourage Wiseman students to see Oxford and Cambridge as a realistic opportunity, but also to inspire Gifted and Talented students to aim high when it comes to higher education. It will support applications for highly competitive university courses and apprenticeships which include:
In addition to the individual support provided by our Careers Advisor, Oxbridge Plus offers advice and guidance through lectures delivered by specialist speakers, Alumni Mentoring, visits to universities and colleges, interview preparation and enrichment opportunities to develop skills beyond the curriculum.

Spring | Cambridge Shadowing Scheme | Year 12 | · To give students who have little or no experience of university a taste of student life at Cambridge. In particular, this event targets students who will be the first in their immediate family to attend university. |
Spring | Visit to Clare College and Girton College, Cambridge University | Year 10 – 11 | · To raise students’ aspirations and inspire them to achieve their full academic potential.
· To dispel the myths about Oxbridge and encourage students to apply to Cambridge University. |
Spring | Visit to Birmingham University | Year 12 | · To raise students’ aspirations and inspire them to achieve their full academic potential.
· To provide students with information about student life and the courses available at Russell Group universities. |
Spring | Talk from Jaguar Land Rover | Year 10 – 12 | · To provide students with information about higher apprenticeships and how to apply. |
Spring | Warwick University Problem Solving Classes | Year 12 | · Students will develop their problem solving skills using a range of resources including Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT) which is used for entry to the top universities including by Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial. |
Summer | UCAS Exhibition | Year 12 | · To enable students to research their post-18 options and discover a range of education and employment opportunities. |
